New kitchen and bath fixtures can significantly improve the look and functionality of your home. Many major manufacturers make special versions of plumbing fixtures just for hardware super stores. In many cases these fixtures can be sold at lower prices because the materials used on these “knock offs” contain low quality, plastic parts rather than brass or stainless steel. Drain Doc- tor provides only the best product options which we obtain directly from the manufacturer.
Have you already purchased your our own plumbing fixtures? Know they are installed correctly. Have them professionally appointed by the highly skilled plumbers at Drain Doctor.
Whether you are remodeling your kitchen or bathroom or have a leaking faucet, Drain Doctor stands behind our work. All repairs and installations comply with local codes, exceed industry standards and are 100% guaranteed.
In water systems there are a number of factors that can effect the rate of pipe corrosion. Depending on the degree of these factors a new piping system can show signs of decomposition in as little as two years after installation.
The rate of corrosion in a piping system is related to these factors; pH, oxygen content, chemical make-up, dissimilar metals in the water and/or in the piping system, and water pressure.
Depending on these things, over me, the flow of water may become restricted by the build up of lime and calcium on the interior of the pipeline. This will decrease the volume of water available. Making the use of more than one fixture at a me difficult at best. For example, your water pressure may be low if you tried to take a shower and run the dishwasher simultaneously. Furthermore, the internal corrosion of piping systems raises medical concerns. These health burdens include the negative effects associated with the leaching of lead, copper and other harmful metals from water pipes into the drinking water supply. Call the Drain Doctor if you have noticed reduced water pressure, an obvious sign of pipe calcification and/or oxidation.
Water is a precious resource. Plumbing leaks are wasteful and can be elusive, destructive and can cost hundreds of dollars every day. If you are experiencing a water leak in your home or business, finding the source must be done quickly to avoid long term damage. Let Drain Doctor’s technicians accurately locate hidden water seepages and their causes and create a plan of action that is right for you.

Our technology allows us to restore and Re-Nu aged, corroded piping systems to a “better than new” condition without removing them. The process can be used on a variety of piping materials, which include clay, concrete, metal, iron steel, PVC and fiberglass. Nu Flow’s Pull-in-Place structural liner process is a patented, non-destructive technology that allows anyone occupying the building(s) to continue with their daily activities — preventing displacement, business closure and minimizing pipe system down time.
This innovative, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) system creates a long-term, structural pipe inside the existing host pipe system without digging or destruction to buildings or landscape. If you wake up some frigid winter morning to a water pipe frozen solid, call Drain Doctor and we’ll send a skilled technician to the rescue! We have professional electric pipe thawing machines that will quickly and safely thaw out that frozen pipe so that you can have water owing again quickly!
A frozen pipe is always an inconvenience, but it can actually result in a much more serious situation than just the temporary loss of water. When frozen pipes burst repairs should be made quickly in order to avoid serious water damage. Drain Doctor will consider the cause of the freeze and provide options to repair damaged piping.
If frozen pipes are a reoccurring problem you may consider the installation of pipe insulation or, in extreme cases, pipe relocation. If redirecting your plumbing is not an option you may also consider the installation of trace heating. In this process a heating element is run along the length of the pipe. The line is then covered with thermal insulation. Heat generated by the element then maintains the temperature of the pipe.
The chemical properties of natural gas make it a clean fuel source. However, those same properties make it potentially dangerous for consumers if their natural gas piping and appliances are not properly installed and maintained. While rare, gas line leaks can be extremely dangerous. The most telling sign of a natural gas leak is the familiar rotten egg odor of the natural gas.
In the event of a Con Edison violation or “red tag” it is important to chose a plumbing company that will quickly diagnose the source of the gas leak, the repair with your local building department and Con Edison, make and test the repairs and receive a “Blue Card” from the local plumbing inspector which will facilitate the return of your gas service. Drain Doctor has the ability to complete this process in the quickest me frame possible.
A Reverse Pressure Zone Valve (RPZ) is a type of backflow prevention device used to protect water supplies from contamination. RPZ valves are one way valves that prevent contaminated water from being drawn back into water mains. In a typical house water supplies can be contaminated from boilers, sprinkler systems, pools, etc. New regulations are requiring the installation of RPZ valves in order to protect the water supply. Call Drain Doctor to discuss a compliance plan.
Drain Doctor offers Preventative Maintenance Contracts customized to each client’s needs. Regular drain cleaning should be a consideration for restaurants, shopping centers, management companies, apartment buildings, and other properties that are subject to stoppages caused by unusual grease build-up and other accumulations as a matter of course. Maintenance protects your property from sewage backups and flooding saving you from property damage and expensive remediation.
When should you consider replacing your water heater? Typically water heaters are expected to last six to ten years depending on the anode rod installed and the maintenance performed. At the end of their life expectancy, water heater tanks corrode and leak. This can be especially problematic if you have a finished basement. Furthermore, no one likes to be without hot water. Why not avoid this inconvenience?
Tankless water heaters are a more efficient, greener choice. They heat water only when it is needed and shut down when water demand ceases thus using no energy. Conventional water heaters are constantly reheating water you are not using. Considering the energy savings and their typical 20 year life span, they make an excellent choice when it is me to replace your old water heater. Tankless water heaters pay for themselves in reduced energy costs and you will enjoy endless hot water — no more running out half way through your shower!
Whatever your choice, Drain Doctor has a variety of water heaters in stock to meet you and your family’s needs.
Over time, debris builds up on the interior of drain lines and sewer mains. In many cases grease, sand, scale, paper and other sediments form a solid layer on the walls of pipes reducing their own. Traditional drain cleaning methods include the use of a wire cables, known as a snakes or augers. While this method is usually effective in penetrating stoppages it does not efficiently clean the pipe and leaves debris and scale behind, with the potential for recurring issues.
Hydro-jettng (AquaBright) is a process that uses high speed/high pressure water to clear pipe stoppages including grease, scale, roots, etc. and is a highly effective approach to cleaning blocked lines. Drain Doctor is proud to be one of the first companies in the area to offer high pressure water jetting. Furthermore, we have invested in one of the most powerful machines in the region. With experience comes knowledge. In fact, we are often called when our competitors fail, because if it’s not done right the first time, your problems will return. Drain Doctor utilizes multiple jet heads to clear your line, destroying even the most stubborn line block- ages and effectively scouring the entire pipe.
In some cases hydro-jetting, or the use of water, is not a feasible option. In these scenarios Drain Doctor utilizes a patented Nu Flow turbine microcutter to “dry clean” the line opening blockages and restoring pipes to their original diameter. Let us return your plumbing to like-new condition, guaranteed.
Video Inspections (DrainVision) and line location transmitters are used to identify pipe condition, locate obstructions, pinpoint damage that may prevent the proper flow causing backups, and trace pipe routes. Video images are shared with clients to relay an accurate account of problems and repair options. Additionally, we perform a video inspection of cleaned lines to ensure we have removed all foreign substances from your line and no compromises exist. This video gives us the confidence to offer you the best guarantee in the business.
Basement flooding is an all too frequent occurrence in our area during heavy rainstorms. Flooding may be caused by a number of issues. If the ground outside slopes towards the house instead of away from it, the water is directed to the foundation making the problem worse. In this case a French Drain may be a solution. Additionally, a sump pump may be utilized to aid in water removal.
In some situations effluent backs up from toilets and drains during heavy rains. In this case a Flood-Gate Automatic Backwater Valve is the solution. It functions as a drainage control valve providing “closure” protection during emergency storm conditions. The Flood-Gate does not have to be activated as no electronics are required for valve operation. The valve is completely automatic both closing and resetting. Once closed it prevents any leakage beyond the gate. Applications include all commercial, institutional, residential and industrial installations including basements and elevator pits.
